Cadillac Buyer's Guide

I've said to myself that "That's a nice year, I have get one of those sometime" when looking at Cars at a meeting or looking
in my large collection of sales brochures.
I have tried to recollect the memory of those cars and have now compiled a list of some of those "must have" cars.
For easier reading I have sorted the cars by decade.

 Decade Year and model Comment
 Forties

1941

1947

New, modern styling, First year with automatic transmission
(Try to find a car with Air Condition)

Find the model with forward sloping B-pillars

 Fifties

1954

1957

12V Electrical, Power steering

New frame, lower styling (Look for the Eldorado Seville,
which was available with Air Condition)

 Sixties

1964

1967-70
Eldorado

Last of the really finned cars, New TH400 transmission, Climate Control
(I want an Eldorado or Fleetwood )

These first year with FWD has really cool styling, 67/68 has concealed headlamps,
70 has 500cui and can be had with sunroof for a more "open" feeling
(cvt in 71, but with other styling)

 Seventies

1975-79
Seville

1975-76
Eldorado

A really nice car, 77-79 have 4w disc brakes and electric level control,
79 has aluminum intake
(For more info on these cars, see my K-body Seville homepage)

The last of the really big Convertibles, try to find one with "Trackmaster" anti lock brakes
and Fuel Injection (For more info on these cars, see my "Links" page)

 Eighties

?

1984-85
Eldorado

It's really hard to find a nice model in the eighties, but I guess if you don't care
about HP's you can choose any of the Fleetwood Sixty specials.
If you DO care about HP (or lbft's) and Size, choose any of the Fleetwood Broughams

The 1984 and 1985 Eldorado convertible is a rare car which can be an alternative
if you need an open car but not the size that comes with the alternatives

 Nineties

 1991

1993-96
Fleetwood

1995
Seville

4.9, ABS and bigger cars (since 1989). Fleetwood Sixty special is always right.

Sleek full size with traction control
Nice chromed lower moldings

Now has Integrated Chassis Control System (ICCS)
Upgraded Northstar with 300 hp (STS)
