First generation [1975-1979]
The Seville was developed as "The American
Answer" to the increasing
number of imports that where chosen by the American buyers instead
of the domestic luxury car alternatives.
The Seville was introduced to the american public
in May 1975.
Engine
- 350 cu.in (5.7 liters) (Oldsmobile block, e.g. valve
covers mounted with ten bolts, distributor at rear -not through the intake)
- 180 hp SAE Net @ 4400 rpm
- 275 ft.lb (375Nm) @ 2000 rpm (slightly above idle: 600rpm)
- Bendix Electronic fuel injection with eight (8) injectors
Drivetrain
- TH 400 three speed transmission
- Constant velocity (3 joints) drive shaft
- 10 bolt GM rear axle with 2.56 or 3.08 final ratio
Chassis
- Subframe in front with six soft isoflex bushings and
dual shock absorbers (one each side) between frame and body
- 1" stabilizer bar in front and 5/8" in rear
- Solid axle and leaf springs in rear with level control
The only body part the K body Seville has in common
with the Chevrolet Nova is the luggage compartment floor pan!
The 1975 and 1976 Sevilles
have an egg-crate grill and three spoke steering wheel

the time!)

- Power Windows (Closes faster than they open)

- Power Seats (6 way driver, 2 way passenger)

- Power antenna (with manual height adjust feature)
- Automatic Climate control (with Off, Economy, Lo, Auto,
Hi, Bi-level and Def settings)
- Automatic Level control
- Tilt and Telescopic steering column
- AM/FM Stereo Signal Seeking radio receiver
- Digital Quartz clock
- Lamp monitors
- Cornering Lights
- Remote adjustable outside rearview mirrors (left and
right)
- Dual mode horn
- Controlled cycle wiper system with washer low indicator
- Map reading lamps (front and dual rear)
- Padded roof
1975-76 Optional Equipment
- Illuminated entry system (illuminated keyhole and front
floor, activated when you press
any of the front door handle buttons and stays on for a few seconds)

- Rear window defogger (with timer so it won't stay on
forever)
- Cruise control
- Theft Deterrent system
- Controlled differential
- Guidematic headlamp control (why dim your lights when
the car can do it for you?)
- Twilight Sentinel (switches on headlamps when it gets
dark outside)
- Leather interior (seating areas)
- Illuminated vanity mirror, passenger side (with lo and
hi settings)
- Astroroof became available during the 1976 model year
(Power operated tinted laminated glass in roof)
- Sunroof became available during the 1976 model year (Power
operated)
The Seville was not (to my knowledge) available with Supplemental
restraint system, nor the Trackmaster anti skid system

vertical grille and two spoked steering wheel
1977 Additions to the Standard Equipment List
- Four wheel DISC Brakes (Ventilated Disc / Disc)
- Automatic Climate control with thermostatically controlled
compressor (only works when needed)
- AM/FM Stereo Signal Seeking radio receiver with SCAN
feature
1977 Additions to the Optional Equipment List
- Electronic Cruise control with Resume and Advance feature
- Power Trunk pull-down
- AM/FM radio with digital display
- Automatic door locks
- Illuminated outside thermometer
- Painted roof was made available as an option instead
of the padded roof treatment
The 1977 Seville (and onwards) abandoned the shock absorbers
between the front subframe and body, instead firmer isoflex bushings where
used

The 1978 Seville has bumper
guards for rear bumper as well
1978 Additions to the Standard Equipment List
- Electronic spark selection
- Electronic level control
1978 Additions to the Optional Equipment List
- Opera lamps
- Elegante package with e.g. 40/40 front seats in perforated
leather with center console, rear floor
courtesy light and special exterior moldings
- Trip computer became available during the model year.
The computer could inform the driver about: Average speed,
Miles to empty, Trip time, Miles to destination, Arrival time, Engine rpm,
Engine temperature and Battery voltage.
- Diesel engine became available during the model year
56985 Sevilles where built of the 1978 model.
The 1979 Seville has a
new two spoked steering wheel with downward sloping spokes /^\
The intake manifold is now made of aluminum
instead of cast iron
